Welcome...come in...come in
Make yourself at home...may I take your coat?
Now, lets get down to business...
I'm looking for the best talent around at predicting the annual NFL Draft.

Hello everyone, packerfan466230, dafinfan and polishsausage are proud to present you with this forum's sole 2006 NFL Mock Draft Contest.

Our goal is to make this the best mock draft contest out there, therefore we want everyone here to participate in this contest so we can determine the true 2006 NFL Mock Draft Champion!

Sign up instructions:
Please download the entry form (a Microsoft Excel file)
here(OPTION #1): http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/fanaticsffl/mockdraftcontest.html
-OR-
here(OPTION #2): http://files.filefront.com/entryformxls/;4965722;;/fileinfo.html
Please leave a post in this thread after you have succefully downloaded the file.
This allows us to know who has signed up for the contest.
If neither download link works, please send me a PM/email.
Polish sausage email: polishsausage20@gmail.com
packerfan466230 email: packerfan466230@sbcglobal.net

If you do not own Microsoft Excel on your PC, please go to a local library that has MS Excel on its PCs and download the entry form there.

Instructions on how to use the excel file are located in the 4TH post of this thread.
After you have completed your mock draft simply email it to me by 6:00 PM EST, April 28.
Polish sausage email: polishsausage20@gmail.com
packerfan466230 email: packerfan466230@sbcglobal.net
Please make sure to include your username in the email!

This contest is open to every user of Football's Future. There is no limit to the # of pepole that can enter because results will be processed automatically. Our goal is to get each user who has filled out a mock to enter into this contest. We would love it if we were able to get hundreds of entries as that would really give the contest some major juice.

Your mock draft entry will be competing against the entries from the FF users here AND against entries from at least 12 natioanl draft experts (complete list posted below). In other words, it is put up or shut up time for those of you that love to rag on the professionals like Mel Kiper!

The Rules:

Mock Draft Length: 1, 2 or 3 rounds (i.e. do as much as you want)
# of entries per user: ONE
Latest Submission Date: April 28, 6:00 PM EST

Scoring System:
Pick # and player correct...............................................3 points
Player and team correct................................................3 points
Pick #, Team and position correct but player incorrect.....1 point
Player +/- 1 from pick #...............................................2 points
Player +/- 2 from pick #.................................................1 point
Player in correct round....................................................1 point

There are many ways to score points so I will run through an example:
Actual Result: #7 pick, Oakland Raiders, DB Michael Huff
Mock Entry 1: #7 pick, Oakland Raiders, DB Michael Huff = 7 pts
(3 pts for pick # & player; 3 pts for player & team; 1pt for correct round)
Mock Entry 2: #7 pick, Detroit Lions, DB Michael Huff = 4 pts
(3 pts for correct pick # and player; 1 pt for correct round)
Mock Entry 3: #8 pick, Bufallo Bills, DB Michael Huff = 3 pts
(2 pts for being off by only one pick; 1 pt for correct round)
Mock Entry 4: #9 pick, Detroit Lions, DB Michael Huff = 2 pts
(1 pt for being off by only two picks; 1 pt for correct round)
Mock Entry 5: #7 pick, Oakland Raiders, DB Jimmy Williams = 2 pts
(1 pt for correct pick, team and position; 1 pt for correct round)
Mock Entry 6: #10 pick, Arizona Cardinals, DB Michael Huff = 1 pts
(1 pt for correct round)

After the contest is over, winners will be announced in the following categories:
1) 1st round mock draft PTS winner
2) 1st round mock draft most # exact picks correct (pick #, player, team)
3) Two round mock draft PTS winner
4) Two round mock draft most # exact picks correct (pick #, player, team)
5) Three round mock draft PTS winner
6) Three round mock draft # exact picks correct (pick #, player, team)

Comments:: The simplest system would be to merely give points only if one gets the pick, player and team correct. We think that is a bit too harsh and boring plus if you're only off by one or two spots you should still get some partial credit. Notice the scoring system also rewards you for getting team needs correct (e.g. if you pick KC to take a corner but they take the wrong corner you will still get partial credit).

Although the entry form is ready to handle up to a 3-round mock, users can submit a mock that only has the 1st round filled in or the 1st and 2nd round filled out. The results will list out how each user did in each round as well as the total overall score so if you don't want to bother going for the overall title you can still go for the 1st round title: this way the contest is open to everyone.

-There is no prize, just the recognition that all of your hard work has payed off and you had it right in the end. Plus, Bragging rights! Twisted Evil

HINT: Try not to stay to the norm, or else you'll be stuck with everyone else.
P.S. Ask any questions if you have any, because I don't want no whining in the end.

What if you don't project a trade, but a trade is made -- yet you had the correct player.

Example: You project New Orleans will take D'Brickashaw at No. 2, but they trade with the Jets and end up taking him at 4. Are you still correct?

Instructions on Using the Excel File

When you first open the document it will ask you whether or not you want to update the links within the file. Please click “Don’t Update”.

Next, you will see a simple spreadsheet of the NFL draft; however, all of the picks are already filled in.
This is no mistake: for your ease and convenience, the 3-round mock draft posted by nfldraftscout.com on 4/3/2006 is your default entry.

Each pick # is given its own row in the excel file.
Within each row you can only change two cells: the team that owns the pick and the player that will be selected at that pick.

When you click on a cell, you will see a small box on the lower right hand corner with a downward arrow sign. Click on that arrow sign and a list of all available options for that cell appear.

For example, let's say you click on the cell that says New Orleans Saints for the #2 pick. A drop down menu of all 32 NFL teams shows up and you scan scroll through the list to pick which team you think will trade up for that pick #. For example, if you think the Saints will trade down with the Jets you could do that by changing the team names by each pick.

The same goes for the players: if you think AJ Hawk is going to be the #2 pick, you just click on the player who is currently in the #2 slot, and - by using the drop down menu - find AJ Hawk's name on the list of players and select him. All players are listed in alphabetical order.

The drop-down menu for players includes over 250 of the top prospects according to nfldraftscout.com; please notify me if a player you would like to select is missing.

When you are finished and ready to submit your mock draft, please send it to me via email.

Thanks and if you run into any problems please post about it in the thread for this contest so that others with the same problem may see it and thus benefit from a public answer.

To everyone who signs up for this: Copy and Paste the NFL Draft Order I have there and just make your initial picks now.
You can revise them anytime you like before April 29th.

This isn't a GM Mock. It's a competition to see who has the best overall NFL Mock Draft in Footballsfuture.com.
READ THE RULES.

P.S. Canadian_Patriot- I appreciate you jump starting this event.
