Quote:
BURBANK, Calif.— Principal photography is underway on Warner Bros. Pictures’ Wonder Woman feature film, the highly anticipated action adventure from director Patty Jenkins (“Monster,” AMC’s “The Killing”), starring Gal Gadot (the “Fast & Furious” movies) in the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. The character will make her big screen debut this spring in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” but the new film will mark her first time headlining a feature.

The film also stars Chris Pine (the “Star Trek” films) as Captain Steve Trevor, Robin Wright (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” Netflix’s “House of Cards”), Danny Huston (“Clash of the Titans,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”), David Thewlis (the “Harry Potter” films, “The Theory of Everything”), Ewen Bremner (“Exodus: Gods and Kings,” “Snowpiercer”), Saďd Taghmaoui (“American Hustle”), Elena Anaya (“The Skin I Live In”) and Lucy Davis (“Shaun of the Dead”).

The film is being produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, with Richard Suckle, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns and Rebecca Roven serving as executive producers.

Joining Jenkins behind the camera are director of photography Matthew Jensen (“Chronicle,” “Fantastic Four,” HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (“Amélie,” “A Very Long Engagement,” “Pan”), and Oscar-winning editor Martin Walsh (“Chicago,” “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,” “V for Vendetta”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, “Topsy-Turvy”).

Principal photography will take place on location in the UK, France and Italy.

Set to open in 2017, the Wonder Woman feature film is based on characters created by William Moulton Marston, appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

With the official cast release from WB, I thought it was time that Wonder Woman graduated to her own thread.

Seems the rumors of Sean Bean as Ares, and Nicole Kidman as Hippolyta have be been premature at this time.

Wonder Woman opens June 23, 2017.

For me, it's my most anticipated solo movie out of Marvel and DC, but very worried it get ruined by too much stuff in the past.

It has all the pieces necessary to succeed. I'm very interested in this one.

Shame being such an iconic character and all

Based on what, exactly?

Not saying it will be good, but there is exactly one movie in the current DCCU.

Well, I disagree.

I dont think it was great, but it wasnt bad....and the reason for its biggest issues (David Goyer) has been replaced.

Uh, no. The Human Centipede was really, really awful. Man of Steel was just average but a disappointment because more was expected.

Eh, obviously it comes down to your opinion but I legitimately thought it was terrible. Without question the worst superhero movie I've seen (though I haven't seen a ton of them).

Like 90% of them I'm guessing. Man of Steel was a pretty big disappointment but it's not a terrible movie. It's actually the best of the past 4 Superman films, quite easily.

True, but thats not saying much. I didnt hate Superman Returns...it was just extremely boring. Superman 3 and 4 are blatant cash grabs with zero effort put into them.

Man of Steel's biggest issue had to do with dialogue and silly story issues. That, and Superman in general (as a character) is pretty boring. Thats why Batman vs Superman isnt a direct sequel to MoS and why Batman gets first billing. I think they wanted to build up Superman with audiences before giving him another standalone film. I think if Batman v Superman and Justice League works out, and they actually put an iconic villain opposite him that isnt Lex Luthor or Zod, they can make Superman more interesting.

I get why people didnt like Man of Steel...but I think many naysayers exaggerate how "bad" it actually was. I would put it on par with the likes of Iron Man 2 and Thor in terms of quality. Decent, but nothing that makes them stand out amongst other movies in the genre (Dark Knight, Iron Man, Avengers...).

I dont think its anywhere near the level of movies like Batman & Robin or Green Lantern.

That's kind of my point. There are sooooo many terrible comic book movies. Man of Steel is certainly not one of them.
