Holcombite, have you been watching him when he's actually played?
Anyways, let me point this out again...
In four years of high school football, four years of college football, and through his first season of pro football, Courtney Brown never had an injury problem.
Then Butch Davis took over the Browns. In the four years since, Brown's been on IR every year. Coincidence? I think not.

Damn straight.
Courtney cold have a real breakout year this year. Robiskie said that he believed Brown pushed himself too hard in the wieght room (Plain Dealer), so if he gets time to heal, he could have a coming out party.
Unfortunately, being on the IR for 3 or 4 straight years takes its toll, and he may be damaged goods.
Next season may be very interesting. _________________ The Brownie: The best logo for the Cleveland Browns, EVER! |

Thanks Lacydog, appreciate the support on that
Anyways, for all future Courtney references, I refer you all to the 2003 season when he had six sacks in the first six games...

| Not only Courtney Brown, but all Cleveland Browns players have been hurt. Some say Butch for too much practicing, and others say our strength and conditioning coach... Either way, we're without Butch, and hopefully, we will look at getting a new strength and condtioning coach, since injuries are what kills us... |

| Playmakers make plays when they are needed, not when they feel like amking them, and guess what, I see LaVar week in and week out bustin balls to make plays, and then I see Courtney Brown taking it limp (although Im man to say he is hesitant cause of injury) and trying to let the play happen for him. We draft a PASS RUSHING DE, but ended up witha third rate RUN STUFFING DE...and frankly, i expect GREATER things from a former No. 1 overall pick. |

| Just as we fans can't give up on the Browns, the Browns can't give up on Courtney. He is a team guy, and will no doubt restructure his contract again. I think the new staff will realize that Courtney Brown is probably the best player this franchise has (when healthy), and utilize him the way Richard Seymour is used in the Pats scheme. To give up on him and get nothing in return is not a risk I think we should take. |

It would be nice if we could restructure Courtney's contract down, however, there are rules on how restructuring must be done in the NFL which restricts you from flat out cutting a contract down from 6.5 million a year to the probably 1 million a year that would be reasonable. Plus there are cap hits we take already on him from bonus's that can't be gotten rid of easily and such.
Basically put, it will be very hard to restructure his contract down to a reasonable level for any longer.

Okay if restructuring is out, than patience should be in. We have plenty of cap space to wait out the rest of his contract. If Savage cuts him and he pulls a Simeon Rice, it will haunt Phil his entire career and make the Browns look even more foolish than they already do. We can't afford that kind of gamble, but we can afford to keep him. If he stays healthy, $6.5M is a reasonable for what he is capable of.
Remember we have lots of extra cap space due to Winslow's inability to hit his performace escalators in his contract. Same thing with William Green. This offensive suckfest that happened last year saved us a load of cash.
One thing to think about before you say cut Courtney again. What do we do to replace him? Don't we have enough needs already? |

id sacrifice what little pass rush we get from courtney for an improved offensive line and and an improved secondary. I never liked him, and I dont think he ever had the goods. And team player be damned guys, this is a buisness. When we dont work hard at out jobs, regardless, we get a pay cut then fired. Pay cut has happened in my mind due to lack of prodcution when playing. Im not saying that he isnt playing well, read closely. Im sayin for a Number 1 overall guy, to be in the situation he is in, we were better off drafting a fat guy off the street. That simple.
It's time to cut our losses and drop a lot of dead weight on this team. Im willing to wait 2 more years for these problems to be fixed, cause my god, ive waited since 99 (2002 was a blessing, and a curse of sorts) for this team to get on the right path, and with Phil Savage, in due to time, there will be something to celebrate in Brown Town, but it has to start with the cutting of Courtney Brown. |

It will all depend on what Savage/ Crennel think of him.
If they think he's damaged goods, he's out
If they see he's got some talent left in him, he's probably in.
I fully trust Crennel and Savage to make that decision, so I'm confident we'll come out ahead. So, we win. YAY! _________________ The Brownie: The best logo for the Cleveland Browns, EVER! |

"Browns' Strengths: Long-Snapper, eh that's it"
Don't forget Tight End. Pretty sure we won't be drafting one of those. |

I was reffering to last year, when Winslow was injured. So, yes, TE wasn't a strength (Not a weekness either, but still) _________________ The Brownie: The best logo for the Cleveland Browns, EVER! |
