It's going to be a tough year for Gopher fans this year in the Big Ten. You lost your top two offensive lineman (Eslinger and Setterstrom) as well as your top two running backs (Maroney and Russell). They'll start off strong against weak non-conference opponents, and then fade out in the Big Ten like they do every year. _________________

Unless I missed something, it's no sure thing. I'm pretty sure it's a toss-up.

Minnesota officials are saying that there is a 50-50 chance Gary Russell will return to Minnesota.
Russell is taking classes at Inver Hills Community College hoping to get his grade point average high enough to be readmitted to the University of Minnesota. In his absence Amir Pinnix will start for the Gophers.

for some reason I'm very optimistic about this year although I have no real reason to be. I just think with an experienced QB and a hopefully improved D we should be okay. Plus nobody else in the big ten really scares me except OSU this year _________________ I speaketh the truth |

To keep everyone current, here's the latest recruting:

^^^ On the far right side it shows our targets. At this point we are targeting/drawing interest from 6 Rivals Topp 100 athletes.

We're also one of the 9 teams currently on John Clay's list. I doubt he goes to a smaller, mid-major school (unless it's Wisconsin), but if we could get him that'd be ridiculous. I'd say we've got a 1/15 chance of landing him, but there's still hope. He could truly go for 2k in our system. _________________ -- Kansas State University, 2013 -- |

True, the Big 10 looks weak. Ohio State should still be good, but Penn State should fall back into mediocrity (if that's a word). Also, look for Iowa and Michigan to both have bounce-back years. _________________ -- Kansas State University, 2013 -- |

Let's get this thread back going. Now that Russell's out, do you see Brylee Calendar or Justin Valentine (FB) as Pinnix's backup? _________________ -- Kansas State University, 2013 -- |

I agree. I am disappointed that Russell's gone, but there's probably 100 D-IA that would love to have this guy as their starter (pinnix). _________________ -- Kansas State University, 2013 -- |

He'll put up 1,000, but the streak is likely over. I don't see brylee calendar or Justin Valentine (FB) going for 1k, so buh-bye. _________________ -- Kansas State University, 2013 -- |

I pretty much would expect this year to be like the past 3 or 4.
Start out 6-1. Lose to Michigan and finish 7-4. Celebrate yet another Sun Bowl or Music City win. I wish we'd do better, but its tough getting excited each year about the great start then watching them play it away. _________________

It would be nice to Wisconsin this year....we threw that game away last year with imo a much more talented team on our sidelines than what they had. _________________
