what's the one thing we need most whether in the draft or free agency etc... what's our the weakest link

the D line looks good
the DB's look good w/ smoot and winfeild
safety looks good now w/ the addition of sharper
we have RB's
we have WR though there are some questions
perhapse the O line needs a little tweaking
we have a good back up QB
TE are taken care of
LB's are questionable , they have the ability but do they have the smarts

what area do we need to seriously address ?.

I worry a little bit about the O-line, depth is a concern. We really need someone who can rush the passer, and a physical safety. Somone who WR's fear.

I think we need a great Veteran LB...... EJ and Thomas are raw and still nneed a year or two to develope.

Linebacker is the weakest link right now. But I agree with VTViking, the O-line depth is a concern. David Dixon is getting old - he's still good, don't get me wrong - but we need som back-up when the day come where DD retires.

I actually have a question to you guys over there in the States. I have heard rumours about trying to trade Bryant McKinnie. Is that true or what?

the O line is a concern we allowed too many sacks though culpepper held the ball way too long at times , other times he would stand back there forever it seemed , I remeber a play where he had the ball dropped to his hips just standing there (wow)

I dout that will ever happen , he's a good player and there's no one to replace him

actually mckinnie was very disappointing last year. he would fade over the course of the game and start letting guys get past him too easily. it really upset tice, who of course spent his entire nfl career blocking.

but mckinnie needs to get better, not get traded.

Yeah, I agree with both of you. McKinnie is very talented, but do not always seems 100% focused. Let's hope, that he will rise with the rest of the team next year!

here are my positions that the Vikings could need help on...

O-line- Rosenthal is a question comming off the injury, Dixion is also because of his age. Something interesting is on Vikings.com, they have Dixon as a backup. Birk will probably be a pro bowler if he can stay healty. Lwinski if fine. McKinny is also good for the time being. Although he has not became the star we had hoped (due to his work ethaic, according to tice), he is a solid starter. As for the trade rumor, i have not heard anything about it and i doubt it. We say last year that we have some guys to replace, but with Dixon getting older we should start at looking at a replacement if tice thinks we do not have one already.

Reciever- Although I think we would be good enough if the season started today, we should draft edwards or williams. with the signing of cowart, DJ is probably not the best pick for us. I would either trade up to get one or trade down if they are not there.

D-line- Although Tice seems to be very pleased, I would not be surprised if they drafted a pass- rusing d-end with the 18th pick. We have Kevin williams, who should have a better year than last year, Pat williams who is a great run stuffer, blocker eater tacker, and Udeze, who was playing with an injured sholder, wich he had surgery on. He had an average year last year. The final starter, according to tice is darian Scott. Scott played a lot for Udeze with his sholder, and did well, but is clearly the weak point. The are also very deep, with Spencer Johnson, who was a great surprise for an undrafted free agent, Mixion, who restructed his contract, and pass rush specialist Johnstone. I would not be surprised if they drafted a D-end at 18 if there is no one else to take.

Saftey- With shaper, we have a great defensive backfield. Chavous is a great leader, as is sharper. Both are vetrens but will provide a few more solid years. We also have Russel, and Offerd as backup. Russel, who started last year, but did not improve as much as we hoped, and offord are both solid backups. We tried russel as a starter, but was not great. With Sharper and Chavous on the downside, or close to it, it would not be bad if we looked at a saftey with 18th ovl, or a 2nd or third round pick.

Linebacker- although this is a weakness it is going to be hard to improve. We have 3 yound starters, one is proven while the other two are questions. Harris is probably our best linebacker, and will start one the strong side, where he would prefer even though he played middle in oakland. the we have Henderson at middle. Although this board cannont stand him, i think he has showed some side against the run. Last year was his first year starting. A lot of people here want he to be benched, but you cannont bench a player that was drafted in the 2nd year after his first year. you have to let him develope. The same is also for Thomas. Thomas has the atheltic abiltity but struggled his first year. You also have to give him time. This is the reason i was and still am against drafting DJ. Who would you replace? you would be putting in another atheltic young player whould make the same amount, if not more, number of mistakes. The trade for Sam Cowart is a great one. I invsion he playing the role that keith newman did last year. I would suspect that he would start of on the bench, but if anyone of the three linebacker, most likely thomas, however, would not get the job done, then he would start.

Kicker- not much to say here. Anderson need to be upgraded.

7th merriman (lb)(I've been doing my homework on him)
18th thomas (s)or de
3rd wr
4th ol
5th p
6th ?
7th?
