Another day, another big aggressive move in FA...Sam Cowart in purple.
Some will say no, but I think this affects the draft and our desire to grab DJ. Now, while I don't think the Vikings would shoot a gift horse if he fell to them, I do believe the Vikings are no longer interested in trading up to get him. So just what will happen on day 1 of the draft, here are three scenarios to consider. These scenarios all take into consideration the fact that Cadillac Williams is still available at #18. A lot of you don't agree with me, but he is going to SLIP! He is lost in the shuffle between Benson and Brown. The Vikings have done a great job of rebuilding their D in the offseason. What they need now is offensive firepower. MARKETABLE NAMES that can actually play ball.
SCENARIO #1: BEST CASE SCENARIO
#7: WR Braylon Edwards Michigan falls to us by some act of god.
#18: RB Cadillac Williams Auburn.
#49: S Ernest Shazor Michigan
#80: K Mike Nugent Ohio State is still available.
SCENARIO #2: AN ACCEPTABLE SCENARIO
#7: WR Mike Williams USC
#18: RB Cadillac Williams Auburn.
#49: S Brodney Poole Oklahoma
#80: K Mike Nugent Ohio State is still available.
SCENARIO #3: MOST LIKELY SCENARIO
#7: RB Cedric Benson Texas (if both WR's, DE Merriman and LB Johnson are gone)
#18: WR Mark Clayton Oklahoma- Best Receiver Available
#49: S Ernest Shazor Michigan
#80: K Mike Nugent Ohio State is still available.
WHICH OF THESE SCENARIOS DO YOU LIKE BEST? |

| I like the Mike Williams and Cadillac Williams one, but Nugent won't fall to us in the third so we'd have to take him in the second which would be fine with me. |

| I agree , Nugent must be drafted at all cost so taking him in the 2nd seems the only way |

and it's not like that would be some pity move that we would regret, it would be good football management.
trading in a 40-something kicker for fresh legs that are the best in the nation right now....? sure!
and the thinkg of it is, is that nugent WANTS to be drafted by the vikes. he WANTS to play in minny. |

I agree that we need to take Nugent in the second run. I like Mike Williams a little better than Edwards. Cadilac at 18 would be very nice in my mind, but I know most people on this site are against a RB in the first round.
Did anyone hear how Braylon Edwards pro day was? What was his 40? |
