The vikiings traded their 7th round pick (What a deal) for Sam Cowart who is a solid LB for the new york jets. Does this mean they are not going to target derrick johnson in the draft? Maybe they will go WR for sure now or maybe O line. What do you guys think they will go now?

I think they're thinking Mike Williams or Merriman at this point.
And why make it 5? Because a lot of those "potential starters" aren't qualified yet. In some development time they'll be good starters, but right now the Vikings are doing all they can to win RIGHT NOW, and with our defense looking like
Kenechi Udeze, Pat Williams, Kevin Williams
EJ Henderson, Sam Cowart, Napoleon Harris
Fred Smoot, Darren Sharper, Corey Chavous, Antoine Winfield
we have a probowler at damn near (if not) every defensive position this season. Throw that in with the offense that stilled scored 30+ points without Moss last year, and a running game that gets rejuvenated with the returner of Jimmy K...
we're going to make a Superbowl charge or two. _________________ UtBDan:

| If DJ and Merriman both fell to #7 I think the vikes should pick merriman |

There are two good options for the Vikes now, and they could work well eaither way to fill their needs.
Draft 1:
7th Pick- Edwards or Williams
18th Pick- Matt Roth or Dan Cody
Draft 2:
7th Pick- Merriman
18th Pick- Clayton
Then they could grab a couple good guards from the third round on and take Nugent in the 2nd. They might also trade down now, grab Marcus Spears from LSU, then grab Clayton at 18. That would pick them up an extra 2nd rounder where they could make a run at David Baas and get Nugent. _________________

| Seriously this is insane. This is a team that before last year almost never made any trades (except ole Hearshal Walker), and very reluctant to sign free agents. Is Red just spending the next owners money? |

That's what I'm thinking. Fowler is probably the most 'poor' owner out there if he gets the team. I heard that Red is just being an [inappropriate/removed] and doing this to [inappropriate/removed] off Fowler. As you may or may not know, Fowler said to everyone that Randy Moss would be staying, and about a week after that quote, he's in Oakland. _________________
