He's got a cannon. WOW. That alone doesn't make it in the NFL. He's a horrible big game performer.

Big Game QB Ratings in 04

Auburn: 42.2%
Florida: 35.8%

05
Tennessee: 54.2%
Arkansas: 50.1%
Georgia: 54.7%

06
Florida: 51.7%

Many others under 80%

All those losses were the difference between a national championship shot and what their season ended up as. With the execption of the '05 Arkansas game, of which they won.

Why do we want that?

Its easy for me if the Lions take a quarterback how can you not take the guy with all the Hype we ended up with Harrington but it was Carr who had all the hype we took the 2nd best at the time.

But Quinn is got all the hype hes gets all the talk and hes going to be compared to Mannings coming into the NFL we have to take him if a qb.

ITS QUINN period for qb~

what? i thought he was asking about the hype for Ja'Marcus...People are in awe with his size, speed, cannon of an arm, and they all saw him on national tv. I asked a question in another thread about who wanted Ja'Marcus before the bowl game, and only two people responded saying they did. I have faith in the coaching staff to make the right decision.

I'm sorry but there is no speed involved w/ Russell. If there was, the sack at the end of the auburn game (which is the real reason why LSU lost that game) would've never happened.

He moves well for a quarterback, He's not Mike Vick or Vince Young but he will be one of the top 5 quarterbacks for scrambling.

Yeah, he reminds everyone of C-Pepper and would be able to stretch the field real well with Roy Williams. And your avatar is too big 80*80 only.

Well, we want that because....
1) On raw physical ability alone he's unparalleled.
2) He is big enough and nimble enough to avoid the rush.
3) When you draft a QB it should be based on tangible quantifiers, like the stats above. Remember, Dan Marino came out after an awful year at Pitt, but with the best tangible stats of any QB's in his class, and Tom Brady certainly lost his fair share of big games at U of M.

In summation, there are things you can teach and things you can't. Desicion making can be taught through proper progression reads and looking off defenders, you can't however teach 6'6" 260 with rocket laser arm.

Jemarcus Russel performed well in one of the biggest games in his college career or did you not watch the sugar bowl. He threw the ball downfield well and also took of running when the pocket collapsed. I think he is a no brainer if available at #2

Why does everyone overlook his poor decision making?

Because he can chuck the ball 80 yards just standing still.

Andre Ware could throw the ball 80 yards but I do like Russell or Quinn anyone that will not turn the ball over on EVERY GAME WINNING DRIVE right now the Lions would be better off with Charlie Batch.

That sounds like a perfect pick for Al Davis. Davis is a big fan of the deep pass ala Jim Plunkett.

Peyton actually won a few big games. Quinn sucks. He's the most overrated player in the draft. Joey Harrington all over again. The Lions would be much better off drafting another position period.
