Houston Texans - DB, DT, LB, OL
The Texans can still stand to use plenty of help, but they’re definitely getting on the right track. One spot they’ll need to address is the safety and cornerback positions. The passing defense needs work. The team will also look to add interior help for first overall selection Mario Williams by finding a defensive tackle, and a quality linebacker to help star rookie DeMeco Ryans shouldn’t be far behind on the priority list. The offense has talent at key positions, but can upgrade at offensive guard and offensive tackle to maximize the talent at those other positions.
Indianapolis Colts - OL, LB
The linebacker position needs a bit more help, as the Colts defense appears weaker overall than last season—even if injuries haven’t helped the situation.. It should come as no surprise if the Colts go after a linebacker early in the 2007 draft. Otherwise, the Colts have no significant needs, but they certainly can use defensive depth and offensive depth on the line. The line is very strong, but without adding depth, the team could face problems in coming seasons. It’s never too early to start planning for later.
Jacksonville Jaguars - OL, DL, RB, LB
The Jags will look to upgrade the offensive line where possible. A young tackle with an eye towards the near future may be in the cards. On the defensive line, the team may want to add an end to help the attack.
At running back, Fred Taylor has been solid this season, but he’s aging. Rookie Maurice Jones-Drew has looked good when given the opportunity, but the team may decide that he’s still too small to carry the load full-time. If Jones-Drew isn’t the answer the team wants, they’ll shop for a back in free agency. Also, while the defense is solid, the linebacker collection could be improved as the unit is the weakest part of a very good defense.
Tennessee Titans - WR, OG, OT, DL
After Drew Bennett, the team lacks depth at wide receiver, and Bennett could be gone after this season as this is the last year on his contract. Expect the wide receiver spot to be a considerable priority since Vince Young will need someone to throw the ball to in the future. The offensive line also needs improvement at both the offensive guard and tackle spots. A change seems to be in the cards, as the franchise will look to protect Young, their most valuable asset. Defensively, the team is still waiting to see young talent mature, but a new defensive tackle or defensive end that can really create trouble is needed alongside Kyle Vanden Bosch.
